I began to strike up conversation with a classmate when I noticed his camera. He told me the make and model and mentioned that he takes photos when he goes camping. As soon as I heard “photos” and “hiking”, I immediately connected to him. I introduced myself and he said his name was Hunter Dimas. I asked him questions about the places that he goes hiking, because I also go hiking. He began to list off dozens of places in and out of state. I had only been hiking within California, so I haven’t been as many places as him. I asked him what his favorite hike was, he said “The Narrows” in Utah. I knew exactly what he was talking about because I had seen tons of pictures of the narrows online beforehand.
Hunter is a first year majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in forensics. He grew up in Long Beach and went to Wilson High School. He has an identical twin named Lucas. I liked how we immediately clicked when we started talking about hiking and cameras. He said I should definitely check out Taft Point and Angel’s Landing on my next hikes; I think I might.
